Mobile internet: is Germany losing contact?
With the introduction of the iPhone in Germany, it must have become appearent to everyone: the “mobile-internet” via cell phone has arrived in Germany. Although only approx. 70,000 devices have been sold, in terms of usabilty the iPhone sends a clear signal to the competitors. Via touchscreen and browser including zoom, almost any website can be read respectively navigated comfortably. The leading supplier of Advertisment (Admob) on mobile devices, publishes a statistic about the worldwide utilization of the internet on cell phones monthly. In their statistic’s february issue, Germany does not appear, just as in the previous months. As to be expected, the US took 1st place. Less to be expected were the overall placings in the overview:
1. Place 1: USA
2. Place 2: India
3. Place 3: South Africa
4. Place 4: Great Britain
5. Place 5: Indonesia
6. Place 6: Rumania
Germany is not even mentioned or seems to be insignificant in the utilization of the mobile internet. You can speculate over the reasons. One important and crucial reason seems to be the continuing high user fees. A flatrate hardly exists (Exception: T-Mobile with the iPhone).

Blogging as cause of death
The business publication “brandeins” dedicates its current issue to blogging on a double-page spread. In december a prominent blogger - Marc Orchant - died of a heart attack. The reason is named to be stress caused by overwork. Another not less prominent fellow blogger, Om Malik, experienced a heart attack as well, surviving it. In their story “brandeins” deals with the question, if blogging (- meaning fulltime blogging -) creates an increased health risk. The pressure from readers demanding new information, the wish to present announcements as first and the neccessity of refunding through advertisement by means of high traffic, surround the blogger with constantly growing stress situations. At the end of the article a few more interesting numbers are published, which briefly sketch the blogging market. Therefore there are approx. 2600 blogs, which offer more than 1000 references, 400,000 blogs with more than 20 references and approx. 100 million blogs with less than 20 references. This may sound frustrating to many, although the motivation of the individual blogger should always be seen as well. We for example operate Talkingblog to show customers that we look outside the box and are contact persons for various challenges in advertising and internet.

Statistics: Ecommerce on sustained rise
Fittkau & Maaß regularly publishes statistics concerning user behavior in the internet, as well as the development of trends. Unbelievable 4 percent of the respondents so far have not even once shopped in the internet. The emphasize lies on the respondents, since it is likely that the target audience 60 and older as well as 16 and younger were not interviewed, it is slightly relative. Nevertheless the result is evident. Over 80 percent have already gone shopping at least 6 times in the net. Outstandingly popular are pricesearchengines. Here too, more than 80 percent know the market leaders and 60 percent have already made use of them. Two thirds of the purchases take place through invoice, followed by direct debits. So the traditional german catalog-shopping-behavior continues buying through invoice.
